What is the common cold?

The common cold is an illness that affects the nose and throat. Symptoms include fever, headache, runny nose, and sneezing.

How is the common cold caused?

The common cold is mostly caused by a virus known as the rhinoviruses, and spreads through airborn droplets from a sick person and inhaled by a healthy person.

How can you prevent the common cold?

Washing your hands with soap, staying away from people who are already sick, and avoiding touching your hands, eyes, and nose are all ways to prevent the cold from reaching you.
